Naturefriends International, together with project partners Aggtelek National Park, Hungary; Neusiedlersee- Seewinkel National Park , Austria; City of Rožnava , Slovakia; Tourism Association of
Seenland Oder Spree, Germany; Tourism Association Lesachtal, Austria; Prom Tour Danube Delta, Romania; and MODUL University Vienna, Austria, would like to invited to the conference on challenges
facing the education/vocational training sector in fostering competence of sustainable practices in tourism.
Based on extensive research of best/worst practices, the project partners have developed materials on how to ensure sustainability in key tourism services, such as tour operators, tour guides,
accommodation providers, and tourism associations.
One of the main objectives of the project is to provide an education scheme for each of these services in courses/training activities in terms of sustainable practices. Furthermore, a concept to
approach students of higher education has been proposed.
High profile speakers such as Gianna Moscardo (James Cook University, Australia); Christian Vanik (Austrian Chamber of Commerce), Angelika
Temper (Naturefriends International); Dagmar Lund-Durlacher (MODUL University Vienna); gave an insight on sustainable strategies and practices in the education of
sustainable tourism.
